Seo Break for Home Maintenance

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Seo Break

Sometimes its good to take a break off the computer, internet marketing and the whole seo addiction. I had to take my break this weekend due to some home maintenance issues. First thing I had to do was figure out every time I took a shower my whole bathroom would end up flooded. I sat on the tub edge, turned the faucet on and sat for a couple minutes. After some time went by water started gushing out the crack from the bottom of the toilet. The first thing we did was dig around for a cleanout but had no luck. It’s a pretty old build so who knows if there even is one. Im not sure what the development standards were back in the early 60s. Anyways, I figured I had something pretty badly plugged up down the line so my father, “the jack of all trades”, and I went down to home depot and rented a 75′ Snake for about $60 (4 hours). We then took the toilet up and started snaking it down the drain. Having to deal with too many corners we decided to pull the equipment onto the roof and snake it through that access.

Introduction to Search Methods

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Link Building

An Seo will use a number of techniques to separate the mud from great link building opportunities. One way to do this is by learning how to search.

If you search for add link, your going to get a crazy amount of results and most will not be worth your researching effort. Start narrowing your results by placing terms within quotes.

“your keyword” “add site”

“your keyword” “submit site”

“your keyword” “submit article”

Now you can take it a step further and specify an extension. Links built on trusted educational websites can help give your rankings a nudge.

“submit website” site:.edu
“your keyword resources” site:.edu (find these and ask to be added, it’s worth it)

Using PHP for Convenient Linking

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Scripts for SEO

Since I’ve been learning more about PHP I decided to discuss one way I use it to help provide readers the code to link to a page they may feel is worthy of a link. With just a small snippet of PHP the code, linking code will update to link to the previous page or post the reader was reading. There has been a couple times I came across pages and debated whether or not to link out to it. If the website had a convenient “link to us” page for the specific page I was reading, im may of went ahead and placed the resource on my website. People are busy, lazy and sometimes just lacking the motivation to link out to you even if your page is a great resource. Convenience may be the one thing that can initiate a great back link.

Onsite SEO Primer

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Basics

Does the Title of your site contain related keywords?

Title tags will play a great role in where your website will rank for specific keywords.  Make sure your targeted keywords are presented naturally within your title.

Does the Title of your site have 8 words or less?

Having a title that is straight and to the point will increase click throughs from visitors who find your page within the search engine results.

Is the title of your site different on each page?
Having the same title across each page can get your rank penalized and lets not forget you will probably lose the opportunity to rank for more specific keywords relating to your products. For your inner pages, design specific page titles while keeping the above guidelines in mind.

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Link Building

With internet marketing and seo for better search engine ranks, there is a white area, black area a big fat gray area. Sometimes we are forced to step into the gray to keep up with the competition. Say you sell golf shirts online. You have a great product, low prices, great service and a great website. Is that going to be enough to get seen on the 1st page of yahoo or Google.

4th of July, Marketing, offline link building

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Link Building

So, how did everyones 4th of July pan out. Mine went well. I live right next to a mountain where fireworks our shot off, so we didn’t have to drive anywhere to see them. One other thing I did this weekend was hit the swap meet. It seems like when holidays such as this one come around, you can find vendors everywhere, swap meets, parades etc. This can work to your internet marketing advantage.

Paid Links, Natural Ads, Keeping the Advertiser in Mind

Published by Cole, Tucson SEO under Link Building

Advertising Off-line

Before I start I know everyone has an opinion about paid links. I guess I should share mine. Not a fan and this is why. If I open up a bookstore I may pay for a few radio ads a week. As a result in purchasing advertisement my bookstore’s presence will soon become known to the community. So the next few months I buy 5 billboard placements around town and the following month I move onto T.V advertising. As I continue growing my advertising campaign throughout the city my ranks as an authority in my industry will grow. Could you imagine putting a bunch of money and working hours into an advertising stratedy, suddenly you wake up one morning and nobody knows you. If a business moves up in the ranks in the real world and it’s products happens to be bogus, the company will soon earn a bad reputation “rank” and go out of business.
