35 Seo Tips, Design Guidelines
Today I figured I’d throw down some seo tips, ideas, questions; basically just a list of random thoughts on my mind. Some of these thing I have ironed out on this blog, some still need to be addressed.
- NO duplicate title tags, Title Tags 8 words max Preferred.
- NO duplicate meta information.
- NO duplicate content.
- Use H1 and H2 tags on all pages.
- Make use of <em>, <i> and <b> on choice key phrases, subtitles, etc.
- It’s not bad to link out, I will avoid linking out to direct competition.
- Target Keyphrases should make up no more than 6% of total word count
- Each page should encourage the reader to visit another (good content)
- External Homepage links should never pull more than 5% of your total traffic away
- This also goes for advertising programs like adsense (always should be a users last option)
- Shoot for four page views minimum per visitor.
- Give reasons to re-visit, consider the use of “the daily picture, video, comic or joke”
- Provide something nobody else provides, push past the competition
- Sensitive form data should always be protected with ssl
- Nofollow or 302 redirect obvious link purchases.
- Some a-hole competing websites will narc on you.
- Diversify your link building methods.
- Enough spam will get you de-indexed no matter who you are.
- If you dont have a blog, set one up, it’s easy.
- Publish fresh content several times a month.
- PPC advertise your favorite webpages to those who will link to it.
- Provide news updates about your company through press release services
- If you run a finance website find “finance directories”
- Implement CSS, Most blog and cms platforms come stock with css
- Directories that matter, Yahoo.com, Business.com, DMOZ.org
- Most fortune 500 companies do not use shared hosting
- Inbound links and domain age grow trust with time, you can purchase aged domains.
- Building Links that Engines see one day and cannot find the next raise spammer flags (dont spam forums)
- How long would it take to build 100 natural links by asking for them?
- How long would it take to build an awesome resource that attracts 100 links a year?
- Affiliates need to work even harder to provide the best content; prove you belong on top, not the company your affiliated with.
- The more you update a blog, the more readers and rss subscribers you will earn.
- Phone numbers are good, fax numbers are good, chat now! options are good. Credibility and Trust!
- It’s not only search engine programs that rank your website, an actual editor will come around sooner or later.
- Keep reading and keep thinking, step into the shoes of your target audience.
