4th of July, Marketing, offline link building
So, how did everyones 4th of July pan out. Mine went well. I live right next to a mountain where fireworks our shot off, so we didn’t have to drive anywhere to see them. One other thing I did this weekend was hit the swap meet. It seems like when holidays such as this one come around, you can find vendors everywhere, swap meets, parades etc. This can work to your internet marketing advantage.
As I was wondering around the swap meet I kept seeing small time vendors trying to get there start in the retail business. One guy I came across was sitting in a chair with a couple fold out tables in front of him, displaying some items he had for sale. Taped and hanging from his main table was a piece of cardboard with his website address and his phone number written in black marker. While most people would overlook this, this screams out to me “link building opportunity”. You can begin to network with local vendors and maybe work out a deal to build a link on the vendors website. Who knows, it may only take buying the vendor a 500ct set of business cards in exchange for that nice permanent one way link. Even though he may enjoy doing most of his marketing at the swap meet, for all we know that domain may be 6 years old with a few great backlinks and a decent page-rank. A diamond in the rough.
