A product can sell itself.
If you have a product that sells itself, that will play the role of “premium linkbait”. No matter how well formated your website is, even though of course this will help with internet marketing, it all comes down to the product or service you offer. This is why so many SEOs encourage their readers to try to top their competitors by offering something extra to the visitor that no other companies within that market offer. Especially in competitive markets you must shoot to be an Authority.
Marketing good products, A look at a real life example:
Yesterday evening I had to run into Frys to get some groceries, juices for the kids, etc. As I walked in the entrance this professionally dressed young woman says to me, “Here ya go, You get one!” handing me some type of card. Caught off guard I respond, uh… okay and take the card. Once I have the card in my hand she goes on to hand me a clip board saying,”Just fill out this card and we can get your family professional portraits taken for an all low price of $10.99, discounted from $60″. Not too interested I hand back the request form card and say, “no thank you”. Being professional with an affordable product sometimes just isn’t enough. If I’ve been shopping for portraits within the last 3 days it may have turned out differently. So anyways I go about my business and pick up the food and juices I came for. After paying for my selections I start heading out the door. About half way to my car I see a Hispanic lady holding a ten stack of tortillas. Let me tell you my eyes are already inviting her in to make the sell. So she approaches and says, “Tortillas?”. I instantly take out my wallet, look inside and see a ten and two ones. I go on to ask how much and she replies, “dos”. Now I’m thinking hell yea and take out the 2 bucks and give it to her in exchange for a bag of the homemade tortillas. Just had a cheese crisp right now and it was damn good too. She wasn’t dressed all professional with a big smile and a great sales pitch. I doubt she even knew english. Come to think about it I could of got some tortillas for less in Frys. So how did she make the sale. Homemade tortillas are the best. They are the “authority” of tortillas everywhere. The portraits mentioned earlier may of been a decent product. They were no authority though. So basically her product sold itself. If she had her own website I probably would of linked to her by now. Since I can’t link to her, I would like to now give a special thanks to the lady who sold me the tortillas. Another thanks for all those out there providing delicious tortillas and lets not forget the awesome tamales…God Bless.
