Affiliate marketing is a great way to make an extra income online. Before I continue, an affiliate program is a program website developers can enroll in to earn commissions for leads or sales they generate for another company online.

Some of these programs can pay up to $40 for leads and hundreds for sales depending on the product or service your marketing. Loan affiliates can earn thousands monthly, maybe even daily if they get on top of the search engine ranks for some high traffic keywords.

Getting high ranks in such a competitive industry can be extremely difficult. You’ll be competing with websites with thousands of related inbound links. Many of these websites are older giving them a better advantage. Websites are like Google’s wine, they rank higher over time. It’s a trust issue. If you choose to go into the affiliate world, providing awesome content is the only way you’ll get anywhere. Go into this field with the objective of making your site so interesting the visitor will want to click and read through four or five pages before clicking onto your affiliate links. Since most of the higher paying affiliate programs happen to be in very boring industries this just goes to show how hard successful affiliate marketing can be. The best thing to do is brainstorm ways to make your page so practical that your visitor will purposely bookmark your site instead of the affiliate site they purchase from.

Here’s a rough example of going the extra mile as an affilate.

If I was an affiliate for a after-market car store, I may focus my website on Mustangs. I may then work out some deal with the store to where I can borrow and record a variety of after-market part installation videos to place my site, with having the option to return the items for a refund. I would probably also provide some good mustang racing videos and maybe a blog about mustang performance. Now theres a great chance of getting my site clicked through a few times as well as bookmarked and revisited by mustang owners. Now if I can manage to sell a few $800 exhaust system weekly for the car store in return for a 14% commission, thats makes for a good second income.
