Building Relevant Links
Rims.org is #1 on google for the keyword “rims”. Lets say you have a 3 month old site selling lowrider rims. If rims.org links to your lowriderrimsusa.com page with the word, “lowrider rims”, you’ll find your site stands a good chance in ranking high for the keywords “lowrider rims”. That is the power of relevancy. This “relevancy” belief isn’t just based on theory and here’s why…
I’ve always loved cars. A couple years ago I decided to create a website about car clubs. It now sits within the first 10 results on google and yahoo for the keywords “car clubs”. I bought another car club domain, made it a directory and linked to it ,from my original ranking site, with the anchor keyword “directory”. The title tag of the new site was “Car Clubs Directory”. Next thing you know that page was was high in the ranks for the keywords “car clubs directory”. I eventually took the directory down and decided to keep it locally on the original site, but this made for a great learning experience. It just goes to show how much receiving links from relevant websites matter. If you can convince a website ranking high in your same niche to link to you, the benefits are priceless and search engines will see you as an authority. For this blog, I would rather have the top 3 results on google for the keywords “internet marketing” link to me instead of 100 links from a bunch of unrelevant resources.
