Google Slammed, Carinsurancerates

September 8, 2008 SE News Leave a reply

Last month Google slammed carinsurancerates.com for the buying of links. I’ve seen this website rank #1 for “car insurance” for months. Even though it seemed to be a decent clean-cut website, it tanked in rank about a month ago. After doing some research it seemed as if they were buying massive amount of links from brokers as well as blog networks.

The Blog network this company advertised on was an easy bulls-eye for Google staff to spot. They list the website address of each blog they offer advertising on. Even though carinsurancerates.com tanked on Google, their ranks on Yahoo still seem strong. But is it strong enough to afford the costly advertising? Above I added a chart provided by compete.com which shows the massive drop in unique visits over the last month. Although this chart isn’t completely accurate it still gives you an idea of how much a google slam can affect your business.
