Quality before SEO

All the search engineers keep stressing “content is key” to site owners. I’ve always noticed the longer I can get a visitor to stay on my website, the higher in the ranks, for that website, tends to climb. When you check out your page on Alexa it shows you an average amount of pages your visitor will click through. Now if Alexa has a formula I figure the top search engines have one also. So is Google going to give rank to a page that visitors click through twice before leaving compared to a site the visitors click through several times? Hell no! That’s just bad business. How about your visitor’s time spent on each page? Let’s say…

Site A’s page about Auto loans has visitors who come and stay for approximately 30 seconds. Site B’s Auto loan website has visitors who stay for 5 to 10 minutes. Do you not think the search engines have Site B in their favor? This is why Affiliate sites must have great content to get anywhere in the search engine ranks. As long as an affiliate website’s visitor has something to read or something to do on the site, search engines will count the time that visitor stays before they click out to the partner site. If a given number of visitors find you on the search engine, click onto your page and then click the back button right back into the search engine results, what does this say about your site? If this happens, forget the thought of ranking well next week. It will be assumed your site has crappy content. Who wants bad content on the front page of Google? Not Google for one.

Of course link building, bookmarks, proper H tags, page load time, outbound links etc. will play a role in your search rank. However, you need to know that your visitors must want to stay on your website for over 10 seconds if you want to rank high for more than a week. Think. How can I make my site better than the competition. What can you do to earn the interest of my visitors to where they decide to click through my site for awhile. Building a quality website not only will earn your visitor’s respect and get you return customers, you will gain the trust of the Search engines also.
