Title Tags
So many websites cannot be found by Joe surfer. One of the biggest seo mistakes I notice are websites that have a title tag without useful keywords. Take a local phoenix mortgage broker with a website title reading, “John Smith finance consultant”. What good will this do for attracting search engine traffic? Instead of this, I would make my title read something to the effect of, “Phoenix Arizona Mortgage Broker - Home”.
Its also good practice to place these keywords somewhere inside your meta description tag. If you’re using an image heading throw in an ‘alt’ tag like “John Smith, Phoenix Arizona Mortgage Broker”. Also make sure your keywords are placed at least a few times in the same sequence within the body of your text or in a title of a paragraph. You can also make some of these keywords bold or italic to place more emphasis on the specific keyword string. Make sure not to over do it with the keywords though. Placing too many keywords can be seen as a form of spam (aka overstuffing keywords), which can result in rank penalties.
