Yellowpages, Local Marketing and Seo

When local businesses have their website complete and “onsite-seo” ready, the next step is to decide how to go about building rank and traffic for your Company’s website.  Most businesses will begin by getting listed in their local Yellow Pages.  Even though Yellowpages.com only provides a “nofollow” link to the company website, I still believe this is an important place to list your company information and website url.  Compete.com figures monthly traffic for YP to be in the 17,752,925 range.  Traffic like this should not be ignored.

My Belief:
Remember this is only my belief, there is no
hard evidence, just my assumption.

I believe whether or not Yellowpages.com site places a “nofollow” on an external link it will still help build your search rank and of course your traffic. Google knows most companies within the yellowpage listings are probably ligitimate business listings. Name a great online business that cannot be found in the Yellowpages.com website. You can’t can you. Now look for a few sites which belong to a spammer and see if they are listed in the directory. Unless you’re lucky, you’ll probably have a hard time finding these as well. I know if I ran a search engine, I would give all business websites found in the Yellowpages.com site a bump up. If you have your business website up and running and you want to take that first marketing step, you can visit the yellowpages.com advertising page by clicking here.
