Comparing 1st impressions On and Offline

First impressions are always the most important whether your talking face to face or a customer navigates to your home page. Just yesterday I was buying a few groceries. When I had all my items ready to go I headed to the nearest cashier with the fewest customers in line. Aisle one looked to me to be my best bet. A man had just finished giving the cashier the money for his purchase. I proceed to throw my stuff on the treadmill table ,I guess you would call it, and started noticing this guy before me trying to recruit the cashier into his Multi-Level Marketing business. Dressed like a mechanic with faded blue pants and shirt and a red trucker hat this guy looked like he just fell out of bed. I listened to him go on to say, “Yea so if you sign up three people, you can make back what you pay to get in!”. Read this post

Building links with Directories

Directory Link Building:

To begin marketing a website one of the best ways to start is by listing it within directories online. A great one to start with is Yahoo. For a low price of $299 you can get your business listed in a related catagory within the yahoo directory. The Botw.org is also a great place to get listed. Currently the price for getting listed in the botw directory runs $99 annually or a one time fee $249.95. Let’s not forget the DMOZ.

DMOZ is a little harder to get accepted into. There are no listing fees, your only accepted if you meet a list of requirements. Unfortunately not all these requirements are not really explained that well to site owners. To better your chances in getting included in this directory your site needs to impress the Dmoz editor reviewing it. You site must function well and be well formatted. Another thing that will help you get included is to provide all Company contact information where it can easily be found by visitors. I’ve noticed many sites that are listed in this directory have the company name, street address, phone, fax and email address posted right there in front on the home page of the website.

Now there have been some rumors about the Dmoz. Shoemoney.com claims an editor from the DMOZ blackmailed him for the sum of $5000. Read this post

If rims.org links to your lowriderrimsusa.com page with the word, “lowrider rims”, you’ll find your site stands a good chance in ranking high for the keywords “lowrider rims”. That is the power of relevancy. This “relevancy” belief isn’t just based on theory and here’s why…

Quality before SEO

All the search engineers keep stressing “content is key” to site owners. I’ve always noticed the longer I can get a visitor to stay on my website, the higher in the ranks, for that website, tends to climb. When you check out your page on Alexa it shows you an average amount of pages your visitor will click through. Now if Alexa has a formula I figure the top search engines have one also. So is Google going to give rank to a page that visitors click through twice before leaving compared to a site the visitors click through several times? Hell no! That’s just bad business. How about your visitor’s time spent on each page? Let’s say…

Ive been online now for a lil over a decade. Ive always found interest in marketing online as well as offline. Even as a kid in 3rd grade, I talked my Dad into helping me make a bunch of rubberband guns so I can sell them to my classmates.
