Comedian’s Commercial Video

Published by admin under marketing

I’ve always been a commercial buff. As a marketer you kind of need to pay attention to the advertising strategies these large companies use. Not to go be a copycat but to get the wheels turning on developing a great advertising pitch. Popular commercials are often times funny or have a cool tune. An affiliate manager of mine sent me the video below of a comedian who shares his idea of what commercials should be like.

Forum Marketing, Be a Toilet Sticker

Published by admin under marketing

I’m always giving attention to advertising strategies that I come across both online and offline. I found that sometimes offline strategies can open doors to new “online marketing ideas”. This morning I once again found myself reading an employment opportunity sticker posted on a toilet paper roll dispenser in the bathroom just outside my office.

It probably gets a couple minutes of viewing by roughly 20 employees daily. 5 minutes viewing from me, I like to read and send text messages. Anyways, a couple hundred of these stickers around town can probably get this company a decent amount of attention.

This kind of reminds me of forum spam… Continue Reading »

Book on 22 Marketing Laws

Published by admin under marketing

Last night I needed to take my wife and child to the urgent care for an ear ache my step son was having. Once we got to the clinic they went inside while my daughter and I drove across the street to wait for them at the Barnes and Noble. I picked up the first marketing book that caught my interest and proceeded up the escalator to let her play in the children section while we wait for my Wife’s call to come pick them up. The marketing book was titled, “The 22 Immutable laws of marketing: Violate them at your own risk!”.

Yellowpages, Local Marketing and Seo

Published by admin under marketing

When local businesses have their website complete and “onsite-seo” ready, the next step is to decide how to go about building rank and traffic for your Company’s website.  Most businesses will begin by getting listed in their local Yellow Pages.  Even though Yellowpages.com only provides a “nofollow” link to the company website, I still believe this is an important place to list your company information and website url.  Compete.com figures monthly traffic for YP to be in the 17,752,925 range.  Traffic like this should not be ignored. In the beginning there was a drop ship company

Published by admin under marketing

So where did it all begin. Some of the first internet marketing I did was on Ebay back in the late 90s.  I began by selling odd ball things here and there and this worked great, up until I ran out of things around the house to sell.  I loved the new hobbie I found so it couldn’t stop there. The next move I made was getting myself set up with a drop ship company which gave me the opportunity to sell car audio supplies and other electronics online.  Let me tell you what a headache this was.  After selling a product,  sometimes I’d followup with the drop ship company who was supposed to ship it only to find it was now out of stock or discontinued. Great, I thought, thanks for the heads up pale.  Now I had to return the buyers payment and lose any credibility I had with that customer. Continue Reading »

A product can sell itself.

Published by admin under marketing

If you have a product that sells itself, that will play the role of “premium linkbait”. No matter how well formated your website is, even though of course this will help with internet marketing, it all comes down to the product or service you offer. This is why so many SEOs encourage their readers to try to top their competitors by offering something extra to the visitor that no other companies within that market offer. Especially in competitive markets you must shoot to be an Authority.
